Chinchero at first light, the salt ponds of Maras, the terraces of Moray, lunch in Urubamba and the fortress of Ollantaytambo, where the day ends at 15:30 beside the train station. Compared with the VIP that returns to Cusco you give up Pisac and the drive home, and pay US$1 less. It is the route for travellers who want Maras and Moray and sleep in Aguas Calientes tonight.

Who this tour is not for

If Pisac matters to you, it is not on this route: the VIP back to Cusco (US$32) visits it in the afternoon. If you would rather skip the early start, the Classic ending in Ollantaytambo (US$29) leaves at 07:20 but does not see Maras or Moray.

Before you book the VIP

Short answers to what we get asked most. If your question is different, write to us.

Does 15:30 really give me time for the train?

Yes for departures from 16:36; the station is about a 10-minute walk from where the tour ends. The most used are the 16:36 Inca Rail and the 19:00 Peru Rail. More on timing the train.

Which tickets do I pay?

The Tourist Ticket, valid here at Chinchero, Moray and Ollantaytambo, plus the Maras community ticket for the salt mines, which is sold apart.

Can I bring my luggage?

Yes. It travels with you in the vehicle and is unloaded in Ollantaytambo. Check your rail company's cabin-bag limit.

Is this a private tour?

No. VIP means the full Maras-and-Moray route, shared with up to 17–18 travellers and one certified guide in English and Spanish.

Around 06:20 in central Cusco. We message the exact time on WhatsApp the evening before.
