Tourist Ticket and Maras entrance: what you pay on each route

Two tickets at most: the Tourist Ticket for the Inca sites of your route, and on the VIP routes the community ticket at the Maras salt mines. Neither is included in the tour price.

Which tickets do you need?

Pick your route and tell us if you already hold a Tourist Ticket; we tell you what to pay on the day.

What each route needs, at a glance

The Tourist Ticket (Boleto Turístico) is the state ticket for the Inca sites. Which ones it needs to open depends on your route.

Where and how you pay

Both tickets are paid in soles, in cash, at the first site of the day: your guide gathers the group, explains the options and walks you to the window. If you prefer to settle everything before travelling, the WeTravel checkout lets you add the tickets to your booking. Rates are set by the issuers and can change; we confirm the current ones on WhatsApp the evening before.

Why we keep them out of the price

Three reasons. Travellers who already hold a Tourist Ticket from a Cusco city tour should not pay twice. Rates differ by nationality, age and student status, so one bundled price would be wrong for most people. And the Maras ticket goes to the community, not to any operator. Showing the entrances separately is what lets us publish the same US$29 to US$32 on every page and in the checkout. See the full price list.

You never pay twice

A Tourist Ticket from a Cusco city tour is valid here.

Your rate, not an average

It changes by nationality, age and student status; one price for all would be wrong for almost everyone.

Maras belongs to the community

The salt-mine entrance goes to the community, not to any operator.

Related questions

Short answers to what we get asked most. If your question is different, write to us.

Is the Tourist Ticket included in the tour price?

No. No entrance is included in any of our four prices. You pay the tickets in soles in cash on the day, or add them when you book online.

Why is the Maras entrance separate?

Because the salt mines are not run by the state: the ponds belong to families of the Maras community, who sell their own ticket at the gate. The Tourist Ticket does not open it.

Do I need the full Tourist Ticket or a partial one?

For a single day in the valley, a partial ticket covering the Sacred Valley sites is enough; your guide will tell you which version to ask for at the first site.

Can I use a Tourist Ticket I bought in Cusco yesterday?

Yes, if its validity has not expired and it includes the Sacred Valley circuit. Bring it with your passport.

Do children pay?

Rates vary by age and the ticket office applies them; bring the child's passport or ID.

What if I am a student?

Student rates exist for some tickets with a valid student card and age limits set by the issuer; ask on WhatsApp before the tour so we can confirm what applies.
