What you see

From the upper sector, the agricultural terraces curve around the mountain in long arcs above the Urubamba. The guided walk covers the religious sector with the Intihuatana and the finest stonework of the site. Then down to the town for the market and, on the VIP, a silver workshop.

Practical

Stairs and uneven paths at the site, taken slowly. The market in the main square sets up daily and is busiest on Sundays. Covered by the Tourist Ticket.

Is the Pisac market worth the stop?

Thirty minutes is enough to browse textiles, ceramics and silver; prices are negotiable and the stalls accept soles and often cards.

Which is better for Pisac, Classic or VIP?

The Classic gives it more time, in the morning light. The VIP arrives late in the afternoon with slightly less time at the site.

What is the Intihuatana?

A carved ritual stone in the religious sector, associated with the sun; Pisac's is among the best preserved in the region.
