Decide in three steps

1Where does your day end?

In Cusco if you sleep there: Classic 18:30, VIP 19:00. In Ollantaytambo if you take the afternoon train to Machu Picchu; both end at 15:30, 10 min from the station.

2Four sites or five?

The Classic covers Pisac, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero. The VIP adds the Maras salt mines and Moray, leaves an hour earlier and returns half an hour later.

3Shared bus or your own vehicle?

Scheduled tours carry up to 17–18. With kids, grandparents or a group of eight, the private tour from US$90 per person sets its own pace.

Still undecided? These usually settle it

Short answers to what we get asked most. If your question is different, write to us.

I only have one day and want to see everything. Which one?

The VIP ending in Cusco, US$32. It is the only route with all five sites, in this order: Chinchero, the Maras salt mines, Moray, Ollantaytambo and Pisac, from 06:20 to 19:00. See the VIP page.

I have a train from Ollantaytambo between 16:00 and 19:00. Which one?

Either tour ending in Ollantaytambo. Both finish at 15:30, a few minutes from the station. Choose the Classic (US$29) if you want Pisac, or the VIP (US$31) if you want Maras and Moray.

Is the VIP a private or small-group tour?

No. VIP means the full five-site route. Group size (17–18 maximum), guide and lunch are identical to the Classic. For your own vehicle, the private tour starts at US$90 per person in groups of 8 to 12.

Which tour is easier at altitude?

The Classic starts lower, at the Taray viewpoint and Pisac, and leaves Chinchero (3,762 m) for the late afternoon. The VIP opens at Chinchero at 07:40. Both spend most of the day below Cusco's 3,350 m.

Why are the Ollantaytambo versions cheaper?

They cost US$1 less because the transfer back to Cusco is not included. You finish in Ollantaytambo and continue by train or stay in the valley.

Can I change my mind after booking?

Date changes are possible with reasonable notice and available seats. Switching between routes depends on availability; write to us on WhatsApp with your booking details.

Does the guide speak my language?

Every departure has one certified guide who works in English and Spanish. There is no guide in other languages on the scheduled tours.
